International Textile-Garment Expo returns to Ho Chi Minh City

HCM CITY – More than 270 exhibitors from 17 countries and territories are participating in an International Textiles & Garments & Apparel Fabrics & Accessories Exhibition (SaigonTex & SaigonFabric) which opened Wednesday at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in HCM City.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lê Hoàng Tài, deputy director of the Trade Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that textiles and clothing are one of the main industries manufacturers of Việt Nam and the third largest exporter with around 40 billion dollars in shipments. annually.

In the first half of this year, exports of textiles and clothing exceeded $22 billion, a year-on-year increase of 23%.

The industry provides approximately 2.5 million jobs with an average annual salary of US$3,800.

But its labor productivity is low compared to other countries, he said.

The industry needs to further integrate into the global supply chain and increase value to ensure sustainable development, he said.

SaigonTex & SaigonFabric is a great opportunity for companies to network, promote brands, find partners and expand their market, he added.
