Haiphong (VNA) – President Nguyen Xuan Phuc July 19 visited Sao Mai Trading Company LtdThe Garment Factory. in the Vinh Bao district of Hai Phong as part of his work trip to the northern port city.

The Head of State visited its facilities, spoke with its workers, and then visited a kindergarten which currently cares for 200 workers’ children.

President Phuc praised the efficiency of the company’s production and commercial activities, job creation, safe working environment and the kindergarten system for the children of its workers.

He wanted it to apply more advanced textile-garment technologies for sustainable green growth as well as better productivity and product quality.

The president suggested that Sao Mai continue its production links with national companies that produce raw materials; expand its markets and the scale of its production and activities; and improve operational efficiency, so as to further contribute to the development of Vietnam textile-garment area and Hai Phong.

Greater attention should be given to workplace safety, as well as workers’ incomes and living standards, President Phuc added.

Founded in 2005, the company now has five factories in Hai Phong city and Hai Duong and Nam Dinh provinces, while holding shares in more than 20 other factories across the country.

It manufactures some 12 million products annually, which are consumed in Vietnam and exported to the United States, Japan and Canada. Last year, its turnover exceeded 500 billion VND (21.35 million USD). The company creates jobs for more than 1,000 employees in Hai Phong./.
